Edit or delete a connection

Open Connections in the navigation rail and use the icons at the bottom of a connection’s card: the settings icon opens Edit connection, and the trash icon opens Delete connection?. Editing uses the same dialog as creating a connection; deleting removes the profile, its keychain secrets and any query tabs that used it.

Passwords are never shown again after saving. In Edit connection, password fields read Saved in keychain · leave blank to keep.

Edit a connection

  1. Open Connections from the rail.
  2. Click the settings icon on the card (its label is Edit followed by the connection name).
  3. Change what you need. Leave password, SSH password and key passphrase fields blank to keep the stored values, or type a new value to replace them.
  4. Click Test connection, then Save connection.

Changes apply to new requests. Query tabs keep their text; a tab’s database or namespace scope stays as it was.

Changing secrets and SSH

  • Entering a new password replaces the keychain entry. If writing the metadata fails afterwards, the old keychain value is restored.
  • Switching SSH authentication between Private key, Password and SSH Agent, or turning off Connect through SSH tunnel, deletes SSH secrets that are no longer used when you save.
  • Picking a different engine at the top of the dialog resets the port, database and username to that engine’s defaults.

Kubernetes and K3s

Saving resolves Current context to the explicit context name, so the connection keeps pointing at the same cluster if your kubeconfig’s current context changes later. If the context no longer exists in the file, saving fails with Kubeconfig context was not found. See kubeconfig contexts.

Delete a connection

  1. Open Connections.
  2. Click the trash icon on the card.
  3. Confirm with Delete connection.

DevOpsPad then:

  • removes the profile from the workspace file;
  • deletes its database password, SSH password and key passphrase from the keychain;
  • closes query tabs that used the connection.

The prompt says it plainly: remote data is unaffected. Saved queries are kept because they are stored by engine, not by connection. Private key files and known_hosts files are never deleted; DevOpsPad only stores their paths.

If saving or deleting fails

Metadata and keychain changes succeed or fail together. If the keychain cannot be updated, the workspace file is not changed, and if the file cannot be written, keychain changes are rolled back. Check that your keychain is unlocked and that DevOpsPad has access to it. See keychain secrets.

Frequently asked questions

Does deleting a connection affect the database or cluster?

No. Deleting removes the profile from your workspace and its secrets from your keychain. Nothing on the remote server is changed.

How do I remove a saved password without deleting the connection?

A blank password field always keeps the saved one, so there is no way to clear it in place. Delete the connection and create it again without a password.
