Update DevOpsPad to a new version

DevOpsPad checks the project’s GitHub releases when it starts and again every six hours. When a newer version exists, a small prompt appears with 下载更新 (download update), 稍后提醒 (remind me later) and 跳过此版本 (skip this version). Downloading opens the release in your browser; you then replace the app in Applications.

The app never installs anything by itself. Your connections, keychain secrets and Infra project settings stay where they are.

How the check works

  • The desktop app requests the latest published release from the GitHub API and compares its major.minor.patch version with the running version.
  • If the network is offline or GitHub rate-limits the request, the check fails silently and you see nothing.
  • Development builds report their version as unknown and never show the prompt.
  • The prompt can only open links under the DevOpsPad releases page on github.com.

Install an update

  1. In the prompt, choose 下载更新. Your browser downloads the -macos-arm64.dmg for the new version. 查看更新说明 opens the release notes instead.
  2. Quit DevOpsPad.
  3. Open the DMG and drag DevOpsPad onto Applications. Choose Replace when macOS asks.
  4. Open DevOpsPad again.

Your connections and project mappings are preserved. If you use the CLI, download the matching devopspadctl-<version>-darwin-arm64.tar.gz from the same release and replace the binary. See install on macOS.

Postpone or skip a version

  • 稍后提醒 hides the prompt for that version until DevOpsPad restarts.
  • 跳过此版本 stores that version as skipped on this device. You will be prompted again only when a newer version is published.

Update manually

You can always download the latest DMG directly from the latest release page. If you build from source, pull the latest code and rebuild; see build from source.

Downgrading

A workspace file saved by a newer version cannot be opened by an older one. DevOpsPad refuses to load it and changes nothing on disk rather than overwriting it. Reinstall the newer version to continue. See where connections are stored.

Frequently asked questions

Does DevOpsPad update itself automatically?

No. It tells you when a newer release exists and opens the download in your browser. You replace the app in Applications yourself.

Will updating delete my connections?

No. Connections live in your user configuration folder and secrets in the OS keychain, both outside the app bundle, so replacing the app keeps them.
