Saved queries and query history

DevOpsPad keeps two lists of queries. Saved queries are the ones you chose to keep; they are stored on your device and survive restarts. Query history is automatic: the last 100 queries you ran in this session, including failed ones, kept in memory only.

Both are in the left rail. Press ⌘ / Ctrl + K to jump to a connection from anywhere in the workbench.

Save a query

  1. In a query tab, click Save in the toolbar.
  2. Enter a Query name (it defaults to the tab title).
  3. Click Save query. DevOpsPad confirms with “Query saved”.

Saved queries store the name, the query text and the engine type. They do not store results or credentials. They are kept in the app’s local web storage on this device, as plain text.

Use a saved query

Open Saved queries in the rail. Each entry shows its name, engine and text.

  • Open in editor opens it in a new tab on the selected connection if it has the same engine, otherwise on the first connection of that engine. If you have none, DevOpsPad says “Add a mysql connection to use this query.” (with the engine name).
  • The trash button deletes it.

Query history

Open Query history in the rail. Each entry shows the query, the connection name, rows returned and duration, or Failed, and the time.

Click an entry to open it in a new tab with the same connection, database and context it ran with. The tab is named History followed by the time. Clear history empties the list.

History keeps the last 100 entries and is cleared when you close the app or switch workspaces. If the original connection is not in the current workspace, DevOpsPad asks you to switch workspaces to reopen it.

Jump to anything

Press ⌘ / Ctrl + K, or click Jump to anything in the header. Type part of a connection name or engine to filter, then choose a connection. Create a new connection is at the bottom of the list.

The palette searches connections. It does not search saved queries or history yet.

Limits

  • Saved queries are not encrypted and are not shared between devices. Avoid saving queries that contain secrets.
  • No folders, tags or search for saved queries yet, and history is not persistent. Both are on the roadmap, not in this version.

Frequently asked questions

Is query history saved when I quit DevOpsPad?

No. History holds the last 100 queries of the current session in memory and is cleared when you close the app or switch workspaces. Use Save for queries you want to keep.
