Connect to Redis
To connect to Redis, click New connection, choose Redis, enter the host and port (6379 by default), the password if the server has one, and the database index in Database (0 by default). Click Test connection, which sends PING, then Save connection.
Leave Username empty or set to default for password-only servers. Enter a named ACL user when your server uses Redis 6+ ACLs; Redis ACL users and TLS explains what changes.
Fields
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Host / Port | The Redis endpoint, without redis://. Port starts at 6379. |
| Username | Empty or default for requirepass setups, or an ACL user name. |
| Password | Stored in the OS keychain. Leave blank when editing to keep it. |
| Database | The database index, a non-negative integer. Default 0. |
| Use TLS with certificate verification | For TLS-enabled Redis and most managed services. |
A non-numeric database such as cache fails with Redis database must be a non-negative integer.
After saving
Select the connection in the Explorer. DevOpsPad scans the first batch of keys with SCAN and lists them, sorted by name. Use the Key pattern box to filter, and Load more keys to continue the scan. See browse Redis keys with SCAN.
Click a key to open a query tab with ["TYPE", "<key>"]. Use the inspect button for the key’s type, TTL and a bounded value preview.
Through an SSH tunnel
Redis is often bound to 127.0.0.1 on its host. Enable Connect through SSH tunnel, connect to that host over SSH, and set the Redis host to 127.0.0.1. TLS, if enabled, runs inside the tunnel and still verifies the host name you entered. See the SSH tunnel overview.
Timeouts
DevOpsPad waits up to 5 seconds to connect and 10 seconds for a reply. Every request from the app also has a 20-second outer limit.
Limits
- Single endpoint only. Redis Cluster and Sentinel are not available yet.
- Only read-only commands run from the editor. See read-only Redis commands.
- Editing values and TTLs is not available.
Frequently asked questions
Does DevOpsPad support Redis Cluster or Sentinel?
Not yet. Connect to a single Redis endpoint. Cluster and Sentinel profiles are planned but not available in this version.
How do I browse another Redis database index?
The database index is part of the connection. Edit the connection and change Database, or save a second connection for the other index.
