Connect to MySQL
To connect to MySQL, click New connection, choose MySQL, enter the host, port, username and password, then click Test connection. When the test reports Connection verified in … ms, click Save connection. The password goes into your OS keychain, not into the connection file.
DevOpsPad opens MySQL in read-only mode. Every query runs inside a server-side read-only transaction, so it is a good fit for production replicas and shared databases. Pair it with a MySQL account that only has read privileges.
Fill in the connection form

| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Connection name | Required. A name you will recognize in the Explorer, for example Orders replica. |
| Environment | A label such as Development, Staging or Production, or your own name. See environment labels. |
| Host | A hostname or IP address, without a URL scheme such as mysql://. |
| Port | Starts at 3306. Any value from 1 to 65535. |
| Username / Password | The MySQL account. Leave the password blank when editing to keep the saved one. |
| Database | Optional default database. |
| Use TLS with certificate verification | Turn on for servers that require TLS. See TLS options. |
If the server is only reachable from a bastion host, enable Connect through SSH tunnel in the same dialog. With a tunnel, the host and port are the MySQL address as seen from the SSH server, often 127.0.0.1:3306. The SSH tunnel overview explains the fields.
Test, then save
- Click Test connection. DevOpsPad opens a connection (through the tunnel, if configured) and pings the server.
- Fix any error it reports. Common causes are a wrong port, a user that is not allowed from your address, and a server that requires TLS.
- Click Save connection. The connection appears in the Explorer.
Select the connection to load its databases and tables. Click a table to open a query tab with SELECT * FROM `table` LIMIT 100; already filled in.
Timeouts
The MySQL client gives up on opening a connection after 5 seconds and on a read after 15 seconds. Every request from the desktop app also has a 20-second outer limit. A busy server that needs longer for a query returns a timeout error rather than freezing the app.
Limits
- Only TCP connections to a single host are supported. Unix sockets are not available.
- Custom CA certificates and client certificates are not configurable yet. TLS verifies the server against the system trust store and the host name you entered.
- Data editing and schema changes are not available. See MySQL read-only queries for what you can run.
Frequently asked questions
Which port does DevOpsPad use for MySQL by default?
The MySQL profile starts with port 3306. Change it if your server or tunnel target listens on another port.
Do I have to enter a database name for MySQL?
No. The Database field is optional for MySQL. You can pick a database later from the selector in the Explorer, and each query tab keeps its own database scope.
